14 International youth exchange: “The opportunity to get to know a new culture and friends.” The large joint closing event for the International Youth Exchange Program was held on August 19, 2011. As part of the exchange program, children of employees from the German Group com- panies had the opportunity for the first time to go and spend six weeks with an employee’s family in the USA (T-Mobile), Spain (T-Systems) or Hungary (Magyar Telekom). In return, the young people from these countries came to stay with the host families in Germany. The enthusiasm among all those taking part was phe- nomenal on all sides. Lena from Germany echoes the general con- sensus when she recommends that “you ‘out there,’ take full ad- vantage when you’re offered this kind of opportunity to get to know a new culture and make friends in other countries.” Over 14,500 part-time positions in Germany alone.
